You won't get anywhere near 1k breaking it... the engine is FUBAR & so is the body by the sounds of it... Turbo may be worth 150-250 depending on if it is actually a t25 or not..... strut brace is worth pennies, wheels maybe 200....... you see what i'm saying.

If you drove the car with the temp that high then i'd say GTT ownership is not for you, fook me, you drive any car like that it will be fooked, you have deffo done the headgasket, maybe a liner or two & the rings, warped the head or cracked it if you've added cold water to a scalding hot engine  ....I'm not going to go on, get a compression tester & see what the score is, like i say if there is alot of oil then it doesn't bode well i'm afraid, especially if you're a novice mechanic.
Oh & you're a dipstick as well. 120 deg, sheesh

Dont sugar coat it will you!

I've got a .49 rear and it's up to speed about 3'500RPM. I'm guessing the .47 will come in a bit earlier but not as early as the T2 which is good for town driving and just cruising down the motorway. Doing a steady 70MPH down the motorway my boost guage reads about 2PSI @ carb top.

You guys should try a VNT turbo now that is a whole different experience no build up of boost you have full boost @ whaterver RPM you set it to come in @ in my case full boost 22psi @ 2800rpm I did have it setup when I was fettling with it to have full boost @1500rpm now that is shit scary and uncontrollable the compressor housing is a T3 and the exhaust housing is just massive.

Should have mentiond with the VNT it is constantly on spool I can hit full boost even with the car parked up and the clutch down just by revving the engine LOL

show off!

Sussed it! i turned the boost down to 15 psi must of been more before and drilled my old main jet out to 1.3 and filled it with shell v power fuel, had asda cheap crap before  . No pinking now and clutch holds 1st 2nd and 3rd and just slips a little going into 4th... goes alright for now, any ideas what power it might be making?

yeah the original set up was for 22 psi, does a standard tdc adjust? will i need to adjust for the set up you recommend? i was really surprised hear it pinking i was only 2nd gear and a bit of third after that the clutch gives in.

Renault 5 GT Turbo / my new turbo is wreaking havoc
« on: 20:32, Sat 13 September 2008 »
I can just imagine the eyes rolling and the heads shaking but ive just put a new turbo on my car its a ktec 350 the rest is standard apart from a uprated headgasket  fmic and an uprated carb with an 150 main jet now my intention was to put the turbo on and turn the boost right down to about 8 psi with standard carb but then i went and put the carb on and unsurprisingly it was overfueling an felt shit so i turned up the boost to about 15-20 psi the first thing that happened was that it span a new clutch but surprisingly it was also pinking like mad what i want to know is  this to do with the crank sensor and what would be a happy medium of power that the standard clutch can handle and what main jet would be best.

This is just for the "summer" i will be fitting all the necessesary gear in the winter. ta
