Renault 5 GT Turbo / Re: group a carb
« on: 12:50, Wed 10 April 2013 »
To be honest you would be better sitcking a standard venturi carb on your 5.  I take it you have a wideband afr kit with gauge?? if so it's a case of playing with the air corrector and 2nd stage jet to fuel for more boost.

I done the same as you many years back on my old C1j'd 5 and didn't have any problems doing so.  I even remvoed the turbo coolant pipes and just treated the engine to more regular oil changes like the early phase 1 5 gtt's.

I believe the campus looms iovery similair to the gtt in that it is missing a few wires but not really a problem as they wont be needed.

Keep away from Avo's the final finish outer coating isn't very good and with the british weather rust amd look pretty tired quite quick also of kits need rebuilds I have had a few set's over the years not out of choice.  Not heard anything bad about Gaz though.  Don't forget spax coilovers they are good good quality and nice finish. Spax also have a slightly stiffer spring than the other's aswell 310lbft from memory

Renault 5 GT Turbo / Re: NOS on GTT

See no point in NOS on a 5 unless you are running a POD car that has a huge turbo and needs the NOS to give it that umph whilst it's still spooling

evening all, does anyone know if there are any diffrences between r5 gtt, r5 campus and clio 1.8 16v subframes, steering racks, front struts and front brakes??

completely random question i know but iv got a subframe with steering rack, anti roll bar, lower arms, hubs and front struts but im not sure what vehicle they are from  :?

Clio 1.8 16v rack uses power steering
Ref campus and GTT racks I can't advise on campus as never seen one the gtt is non power assisted.

ref subframes the campus and gtt will be pretty much identical if not the same, the valver will fit in a 5 but you will need to drill new holes in the cross member as the holes are in slightly different places, also the clio 16v is 30mm wider track than the 5 gtt.  Valver hubs are identical to the gtt other than the valver hub has a bigger bearing so makes it slightly better ref brakes valver and 5gtt are interchangeable.

Hello all,

I am not a frequent poster on the forum, but after a little bit of advice pleeeeaaassseeee.....

Could be a sad time for my R5 Turbo.

A crack in the rad about 6 months ago, obviously made me put a new one on.  Car didn't overheat.  As the summer is coming I am putting her back on the road, but now there is a leak from the head out the side of the head.  Looks the sealant has split.  Would people think that the head has cracked?

I know very little about the R5 a part from the work I have done on her over the last 3 years....  It's an H reg by the way....

Any suggestions, positive or otherwise?

Thanks all for reading my woes.

When you say leak from the side of the head do you mean were the blanking plate is or the water pump end?? get a pic of it up matey I will see if I can help you out

Are you going to use the 16v engine in std n/a setup ?? if so then yes GTT pump will be fine if turbo, supercharger or ITB then you will need a bosch 044 or walbro 255
