I agree Steve the 13's you had with the low profiles on it looking amazing a pity that car got mashed Steve.

did the 1.7 gtx have a bigger radiator than the turbo ???

R5 1.6 Diesel had the bigger rad but you would need to fit an external oil cooler to use it.

If you want to keep standard size I wouldn't bother with the copper core stick with the OE rad or if you can afford the alloy go that route.

you could always mod the standard one by
1. disconnecting the thermostat and gluing the flap open(so you can see the fins on both sides)
2. running 2 big jubilee clips around the outside to stop the ends blowing off
this has been tested so far upto 27psi on a t28 with fuelling to match b4 det occured
p.s. its good on a budget

Even if the OE Intercooler is Strapped and thermostat removed and flap removed it is still no good for over 15psi as the cooling is to in-efficent for any more boost and a double cap interooler would be required and yes the GTTuning is a very good intercooler and came up tops on an RTOC group test.

Never run the GTT without a  :x Therm Stat sounds like the stat is in the wrong position should be inside the main top water hose touching the water pump when pipe connected properly and yes the pipe will collapse and when coolant is up to temp the stat should open and the pipe will expand again.

I would do the following :
1) Buy new stat,
2) Fit it correctly loose in hose to start and feel with fingers on outside that it is against the water pump and then tighten up the 2 x jubilee clips, ( 1x clip on the stat and the 2nd on the water pump connection of hose).

To be honest the kit you get from Renault is a universal kit that was designed for all the models within the Renault 5 range + some other models so majority of the bits will not be used anyway on the GTT. I would personally renew the entire cable so at least you know it will not fail for some time. :D
