It's not adjustable because the tdc sensor is fixed if you move the sensor one way or the other the advances or retardes the the timing

Cam timing was set using vernier and gauge when I checked engine timing with tdc sensor in original place timing was off so altered tdc position to bring back to 8 degrees

Compression should be about standard is 8 degrees not standard setting

Engine timing is at 8degrees had to modify flywheel sensor holes

Just rebuilt my r11 turbo engine and need some advice on the best carb set up ignition timing and boost pressure.
My engine spec
Balanced bottom end lightend flywheel
New pistons and liners piper 285 cam plus vernier
Head ported and mached to inlet alloy inter cooler
Turbo (not realy sure) defo a t2 but has no markings bleed valve fitted

Things I would like advice on
Best boost pressure
Carb jets to suit boost pressure
Ingnition timing to suit above
I have set ignition timing to 9degrees by adjusting tdc sensor

You can go either way mate, if you go for lower comp pistons you don't have to go too bigger dish just flat top ones will do

3 cracked liners, i bet thats due to comp ratio  :wink:

Maybe the chap I got the car from had just had the head gasket done the engine got that hot it melted some off the wiring the garage that fixed it must have just put a new head gasket on and left the cracked liners as the engine blew up after a couple of miles
