If any of you are interested in a read about the car, I have a project thread on my car club,118.0.html

It's probably me but I don't go to Bideford much, and I haven't had tat for a long time now!

It was 'ratty' but I'm trying to make it more of a 'retro' theme now .. I was at the Fast Show on the crappy grass area of the stands and was also at the Retro Show again this month  :)

Other Renaults / Campus rev counter wiring
« on: 19:57, Sun 03 April 2011 »
Hey guys, I've bought a rev counter to use on my Campus which is the standard 1.4 carb engine with a coil pack?

I cannot get the rev counter to work ! tried it on the coil pack's ground, which also connects to some other wire.. got a reading for a few seconds and then nothing

Is there an unused lead behind my dash or something? Cheers  :D

I know lol

Anyone seen this before / is the guy on here?

This one yeah?

Hi mate, I live in Barnstaple

The C reg is owned buy some guy with a stupidly loud bean can exhaust, my friend got a snap of it to show me!

As for the blue one, I see it quite a often and once he nearly crashed into me! The last digits on the plate are GTT I think  8)

Renault 5 GT Turbo / ATS Wheels

I've seen Renault 5's with these one, but do they slot straight on? Do the centre bores need to be cut?

Oh, so if I can get hold of some GTT shocks and top mounts, from say, someone who was breaking an R5, could I then take it to a mechanic and they be able to do the change over?

Appreciate all the help guys, thanks a lot  :D

Sounds way too technical for me
I'm not too good with the mechanics side of cars!

Will mk1 Clio coilies or shocks etc fit the Campus?

My campus is quite low but is fitted with gt shocks and springs, about 50mm loweer on front the i adjusted the rear torsion bar and fitted gt shocks on.

Its possible to get low campus springs which will still lower it quite abit, cutting springs is possible but to be honest not adivable.
Do you have any pictures you could post up so I can see what -50mm looks like? WOuld be a real help  :D

Do GTT shocks fit right on?

I'm interested in this also as James5 will know from our convos on his thread about lowering but ktec mention that 50mm is the lowest spring possible on standard shocks I've seen 60mm but cheap gmax springs
When you say standard shocks, are you referring to the GTT or non-turbos? I read through that project thread too, it's low as hell  :P

Hey Sparky, yeah it's me I came to ask the pros!

Sorry, I should mentioned it was a Campus, I assumed it uses the same suspension as the GTT.

Not sure what to do then, I know people have slammed non-GTT's but I'm unsure how exactly. Cut springs..?

Agree with everything Mark says in addition when you do lower the car you must adjust the rear brake bias.

Hmmm low 5's do look good and if your are going lower than 60mm I would personally recomend not using a side exit exhaust and going for a rear exit system instead.
Didn't know about the brakes, thanks buddy!

Alas, my car is the 1.4 Campus, I understand it won't sit as low as a GTT due to weight differences, but would a pair of springs for a GTT fit onto my shocks? Such as these:

60mm is quite low mate, any lower and you will need coilovers.

If you went lower expect to be scrapping the bottom ever now and then!  :)

Will look good 60mm low on front with back to match
Cheers for the reply  :D

If it was at 60mm would the torsion bar match it? I've heard that it can't be set to exactly how low you want the back, but only what the bar can be adjusted to in measurement 'jumps' ?

Also, would putting the 60mm spring on the standard unit bugger it up?
Thanks again :)
