As promised here are some pics of the cylinder head, head gasket and bottom end, I cant see any faults in the gasket. Maybe one of you guys might see something I`ve overlooked.

Its been a long time since my last update. Too long time actually. Holy crap were talking years... :oops:

Ok so today I`ve finally taken taken off the head and tried to find out where the problem that may have caused the failure. The only problem is that there are no signs of damage to the old head gasket  :? However tomorrow Im heading back to the garage to see if the head might be warped and in need of skimming. If thats not the problem then i dont know what the reason for insane amounts of smoke could come from. oh and yes the turbo is still in good condition.

I might even take som pics tomorow of the progress.

If you're not planning on a FMIC, then behind the grill would be a good place to mount it. Just in front of the radiator. That's where I would've placed it if I wanted to keep the original appearance of the 5 :)

Sorry I haven't commented in this thread yet. Seems like its going to a great car when its done. Good to see that you are making progress and getting rid of the rust. I'm looking forward to seeing it complete. Keep up the good work.  :D

The headgasket is a fairly easy thing to change.

Its all the other engine mods im going to need help with, like making the required bits and pieces needed for the VNT to be fitted, and completely rebuild and reinforce it so that it wont blow up after 2 miles :p

Evicted? Noooo, thats no fair :( . As youre getting close to finishing your project 5 I really hope you get it done before you need to leave the garage.

Looks like i might have to find a rentable garage for this job then, and maybe just rent it for 2-4 weeks atleast.

And yes im serious. Theres just about noone in Norway who know how to do any work on the GTT`s.

If there where someone in Norway that could be trusted with my car, I would have gone there...

Its been a long time sice i last posted an update on how things are going with my 5. My headgasket gave up and died. So now Ive got 2 options on what to do with it.

Option 1: Get an uprated headgasket and just change it

Or I could (and really want to)

Option 2: Change the headgasket, and drive the car onto a boat heading for the UK. And hopefully one of you guys could help me out with a complete rebuild of the engine, change the clutch, fitting a wideband, and fitting a VNTturbo.  8)

But first I need to get the funds for this, Im thinking of doing this in the mid og late summer.

If this is something that sounds interesting, PM me or write it here in this thread. Of course Im not putting my 5 in the hands of someone who hasnt done this type of rebuild before.

Oh not much Im afraid, as a student I cant aford to much new stuff for my five. However in the little freetime I have I use detailing cars. Its a great way to earn some extra cash.

I see youve come a long way on your project. Icant wait to see the finshed results  8)

Also Ive had a really crappy day, as some F#%head has managed to dent my door and scratch it up deep. And worst of all the bastard didnt even leave a note.  :evil:

Well Ive ordered a new cap and rotor now, and i hope that chaging it put an end to the piglike squeeling. The sound is way to annoying to live with.
