Renault 5 GT Turbo / What adhesive?

I need to fix my side skirts back on. They were already fixed on with some strong black adhesive and the lower edge screwed on. I want to glue them back on but what adhesive should I use?

The bottom lip on my front bumper is in need of repair. What is the best way to repair cracks? I was thinking fibreglass and resin. Is this the right way to go?

Renault 5 GT Turbo / Changing suspension back to standard

My 5 has been lowered at the front with 30mm lowering springs and shocks. The rear has shocks and the torsion bar has been turned.

I want to return it to standard hight and ride. I have sorted some standard springs and shocks to put back on the car.  How much work is involved in doing this and is it fairly straightforward? Are any special tools required? I would like to have a go at doing this job.

i am trying to get my car ready for the MOT and am stuck on the rear screen washer.

when i pressed the switch it killed all my dash and realised there was a short somewhere. i have changed the fuse and replaced the rear wash motor and now it spins away nicely. i am still not getting any water on the rear screen though. :?:

the rear jet is wet so water is getting there..could the jet be blocked? or the tubing?
anyone got a spate rear jet i can have?

does the rear washer need to work for the MOT?

Renault 5 GT Turbo / Wiring issue

MOT time is near so i thought i would swap out my washer jets for some that actually work. No problem there until i pressed the rear washer. Pressing this switch caused all my dials to die.

I checked the fuses and the one marked "STOP" had blown. What is this fuse for and why would this happen? Oh and my rear washer does not work. any common problems that i can check?

Also..will it fail the MOT for not having a working rear washer?

When driving for a while i can hear a sqeaking coming from my front offside wheel. The wheel is hot to the touch compared to all the other wheels. The wheel does not seem to be binding though. I had the brake servo replaced a short while ago and there are no leaks on the master cyclinder.

Does it sound like i need a new caliper?

I want to try running my car without the anti perc fan. What is the best way to make safe the wiring? I don't want to cut it out as I will want to use it in the future.

Can I just unplug the motor?

My passenger window sometimes works and most of the time it doesn't. i have had it all apart and it is sticky and the motor just clicks. i have checked the wiring and all seems good with a steady stream of volts getting to the motor terminals.

what parts are needed to change the windows into manual wind? can i get these from a 5 campus?

Renault 5 GT Turbo / Rad fan not kicking in after flush

i recently changed the rad over as mine was furred up. everything is in and the coolant has been bled. when the temp guage reads up to the second bar the fan should be kicking in. i am getting nothing. i have touched the two wires and the fan comes on. i have swapped over between two switches and still i cannot get the fan to come on.

any ideas?

The two wires to the oil pressure switch, does it matter which way round they go?

Same question for the rad fan switch?

Renault 5 GT Turbo / Removing rad..questions

okay so i have removed my leaky rad. i could not remove the bottom pipe first as the jubilee clip was rusted solid. so i removed the top hose first at the rad. some coolant was collected and from there i managed to get the bottom hose off at the pump and lift the rad out the car.

before i put the replacement rad in i want to flush the system. my header tank is still full of coolant, how do i get all the old coolant out of the system and flush it?

also..when i checked the top hose there was no thermostat fitted. i have a new one to fit. only problem as there is not one to remove i dont know which way round it goes in the hose and how far up? how do i secure it in the pipe?

Renault 5 GT Turbo / Running standard boost

My 5 has a bleed valve fitted under the bonnet and when on full boost the gauge reads all the way round the gauge. I think it is running a higher boost.  

How do I get my 5 running standard boost again? Is it a case of closing the bleed valve until the gauge reads 3/4?
