« on: 16:20, Wed 02 February 2011 »
not really an important topic but something that i wouldnt mind having a bit of an idea of, just to note as long as the car drives spot on figures come second to me

here is the soon to be spec of my c1j engine

cosworth comp housing, t28 pulsar wheel and t2 .63 ex housing (not sure what spec you would call this turbo)
carb set up by ian nixon (20psi)
fmic
cat cams 285 cam and vernier timed 112 degrees
bb tuning ported head
gtt ram raid induction located behind the headlight
scorpion system
ktec 2.5" downpipe
ported turbo elbow
ported inlet/exhaust manifolds

i was thinking around 180-190 ish

Renault 5 GT Turbo / finally get car back on the road soon
« on: 07:29, Sun 18 April 2010 »
dropped the car off friday evening at gt motorsport in stoke  http://www.gtmotorsport.co.uk/  , he was mega busy up there had 3 subarus in along with an absolute mint black s2 escort rs turbo that was in for a zetec turbo conversion also had a bmw m3 having some work done on it.
At the moment am not sure when work is starting on my car but he promised work would start next week.
I also went up to endon services yesterday to pick up the liner seals i ordered on tuesday off them and im going to gsf on monday after work to pick up the uprated head gasket .
oh and whilst i was on the phone to gsf i was informed that ex europarts guru ian nixon now works at a garage only 2 mins from my house so i think ill be paying him a visit for a few tips etc

just to note my car is having new pistons/liners fitted along with new timing chain cover and gasket plus all other required gaskets etc. am also going have the inlet manifold ported whilst its off, and if the engine needs to come out for any reason iv got a bb tuning racing cam here that can be fitted. whilst its there ill stick the front and rear strut braces on that iv purchased whilst its been off the road and i think ill treat it to a set of new front brakes

General Chat / car booked in for power run @ mikeanics 20-02-2010
« on: 19:08, Wed 17 February 2010 »
hi guys as some of you may know i got the hg sorted on my car and had the fuelling set up really well at gt motorsport last week.

anyway due to me organising the last rr day and also not running and losing my deposit mike offered to do me a few runs for free once my car was running right so im off up there this sat im not sure what sort of bhp/torque it will make as im rather new to the gt turbo tuning scene but here is my current spec and maybe you guys could have a rough idea ( id be happy with anything over 130bhp tbh)

t2 @ 16psi
ported head
2.5" downpipe
ported/enlarged turbo elbow
scorpion system
re jetted carb with fuelling bang on set up on wideband
double cap intercooler

this is how the engine spec will stay for a while unless i decide to de bur/port the inlet manifold and see if any sort of porting/gas flowing can be done to the carb

Renault 5 GT Turbo / hgf/ mini overhaul
« on: 07:09, Tue 19 January 2010 »
right as some of you may know the head gasket on my car has blown and it had meant to of been done in september last year but looks like it was done on the cheap, iv fount the oil leak peeing out the back of the rocker cover as well.
so im actually going to make a bad situation into something good and do a mini overhaul on the engine as iv got a feeling its been a bit ran into the ground since about 2005 so here is a list of parts iv bought

Group A head gasket set
Alternator Belt
Distributor Cap and Rotor Arm (brass contacts)
Ignition leads 8mm UPRATED Lucas
Genuine Renault Fuel Filter
Timing Chain Cover Gasket
Spark Plugs NGK Uprated B9EG
Head Bolts 12.9 High Tensile (10)
Timing Chain
Timing Chain Tensioner
Fuel Pump Uprated

as you see i think this should refresh alot of things as the engine has done 109k so is prob due a good going over and its going to be peace of mind for me knowing all these bits are new and strong to withstand a bit of boostage :)

Renault 5 GT Turbo / camshaft selection
« on: 07:16, Sun 03 January 2010 »
hi guys im at some point going to be upgrading the cam in my engine and am wondering what will be the best combo for the following set up

hybrid t2/t25 with .63 housing running 16-18psi
all carb sorted and fuelling set up
full downpipe back exhaust system and bored out turbo elbow

i will also be getting the head fully ported etc

im wanting the most drivable cam to suit really and not after peak figures as am not someone who goes figure chasing tbh lol.

the cams iv been looking at are as follows

ktec fast road cam
piper 270 cam
piper 285
cat cams 5500315

they are the 4 am looking at obviously 2 are milder than the other 2 but i dont mind milder if it goes with the set up better than  a high lift cam
