Uh sorry I didn't quite understand
Will you be using the rear arches from a GT turbo?

If I do go to Budapest again I won't take the wife

I don't doubt for one minute this motor is a minter but I also don't doubt that photo shop has played a part in these photos.    I would have it though, if I had the disposable income. Just because.

Wow that's very different

Looks very interesting, I will be watching your progress 8)

Are you going to fit the rear arches from the turbo bodykit and how will you do it?

I spent a weekend in Budapest, very nice. Beautiful women, unfortunately I went there with the wife

 Oh dear I ran it like that for quite a while at the time. I think it best if I take it off and look at alternatives. Did someone say there was a standard metal one?

I noticed that on the phase 2 that this unit has a plastic cover as it's inside the scuttle. Did the phase 1 have a similar cover as standard or was it left bare?

Phase 1 as were some crossover models aka the phase 1.5 were left bear over the turbo, plastic cover would have melted over turbo, it was on later models to stop water / rain getting into it

Would of melted.   Of course it would I didn't think of that   Right oh, cheers mate that's what I wanted to know.

Just another question. The heat shield I have is the fabric type the wire coming out of the top of it is melted to it and it never fitted very well anyway. I don't want to get a metal one as I want it to look standard. Is it wort replacing with another standard item or are they just generally sh*t and not worth having?

Went for start up today. I had power but no spark, Rob came around to help and he worked out my coil is knackered. The knock sensor was stuck in with sealant as well so it's best I get another of those too.

I can't say I'm very disappointed as the way I see it I'm still a damn site further along than I have been for the last 13 years :)  It'll be another two weekends before I get back to the garage ( Damn family and work  ) But fingers crossed :D

Spending all day tomorrow on him, going to write a list of jobs and complete them systematically then go for fire up so I will probably call you when nothing happens and I haven't got a clue

15-20Nm.

I just run them down with my fingers and then give them a little 'pinch' with the rachet. Stripped threads can really ruin your day.

That's more or less what I did but I will check with my torque wrench anyway now 8)

I've changed plugs before and never really worried about it, but @ 30 a set I got a bit nervous for some reason
