Thought id update this thread as quite a lot has happened since the build...

Fitted a t28, set the boost to 15lbs manifold, took it down the pod & ran a 14.5, not bad for a van...

Few updated pics..

Fitted koni yellows up front & lowered the rear a bit more, Fitted Mintex 1144 pads up front & took it round mallory park, great fun

Its been ultra reliable since the build, only had a couple of little issues so really pleased. Planning on fitting a piper 285 cam & vernier over winter to see a few more ponies!

What a total sleeper, mental!

Title:
Post by: dgdogz on 08:36, Mon 03 November 2008
quality
id love to own a bit of mental sleeper madness like that
so many people up here in shitty corsas needin a good embarassment.
hahaha
can i ask you wer you got the stainless pipes for your front mount
ive been lookin for ages and they ones look perfect

:)
Title:
Post by: Brigsy on 12:00, Wed 05 November 2008
I got the 90 deg bends done in stainless pipe at a local exhaust place when i got my side exit modified. Have a look on ebay there should be something similar.

Post by: Brigsy on 12:32, Mon 10 November 2008
Just had a set of genuine clio williams 15x7j speedline alloys blasted/powdercoated anthracite at romax so i can take the turbines off for winter.

Picked them up cheap'ish, Half polished/corroded alloy, paint flaking, super bald/slashed tyres, all were unkerbed/straight though.

Before pics...

After pics....

Quite pleased with them. Wasn't 100% whether the shape of the alloys would suit the van but imo they look good. Nice & low maintenance compared to polishing the outer lip on the turbines every week to stop corrosion.

Fitted 195/45/15 toyo proxes 4rf, cheap enough for full set new off ebay. Seem pretty good now there scrubbed in a bit. Only need a new set of centre caps to finish them off, will have to wait considering the price 16 ish each!
Title:

Took it down york raceway for a few test runs today. As the surface isn't too good i knew i wouldn't break any records but i were more concerned about trap speeds.

Best run was 14.73 @ 100. All other runs were 14/15 sec with consistent 100mph traps. The cam/18lb boost must be doing the job, No idea how much power ive gained but 10mph up on last runs at the pod.

Best run slip here.

I would have popped round mate but had to limp it home as i snapped the middle hanger on the exhaust somehow.

Good to hear the raider is finally running!

Cheers mate :D

Done a few runs at santa pod on fri. Done a new best time of 13.4@97 on slicks, 14.3@98 on road tyres. Hot weather werent helping things as it felt down on power slightly, Grip/surface was awesome though.

Its possibly the fastest Renault extra van in the world now lol. Roll on 12's when i up the boost.

A couple of pics..

Nice van mate where in teeside are you from?
Title:
Post by: Brigsy on 19:42, Sun 21 June 2009
From redcar mate.

Took the van on the track at fcs, had a bit of a mis-fire problem when hot, Think the aei is at fault. Ive moved the aei to the ph2 position & replaced it with a spare, have also renewed the critical ign components too i.e tdc to hopefully cure it for good.

A few new engine pics, A couple of subtle changes done. Also turbo has had a recon as i broke it with low oil pressure, now sorted. Took it to usc for a test & all seems well so roll on national day.

Been a while since update!

Clutch went last oct so has been laid up since then, on inspection I found a spring had gave way. Took off road for a few upgrades as the aim for '10 is a 12 sec qtr.

Decided to upgrade to an ap 4 paddle whilst changing & 3.6kg flywheel.

New all in one 2.5" downpipe to replace cast restrictive elbow.

m&h 22" racemaster slicks (pictured on Rob@byr old clio)

I'm planning on more power so decided to upgrade the intercooler to something a bit bigger, should tuck in behind bumper nicely to keep the stock look. ;)

Trial fit

Next job is mount i/c & paint brackets, adjust piperun to suit. Aiming to get it back on the road for beginning of march.

Piperun is mocked up, just need some more mikalor hose clamps. Roll on payday...

Took the long route, too tight near gearbox mount the chassis rails must be slightly different to the gtt. Hole was already there for pipe to go through no cutting req.

Thats a sick ride! Its always cool seeing bits of an intercooler behind the bumper/grille! Especially on a van !

Finally got it back on the road, paddle clutch/solid engine mounts & hot cam are making it interesting to drive :D

Hoping for some decent weather so i can do some tuning, cant get any traction at the moment.

Ive no idea what power is at the moment, the boost is set at 17psi at the manifold. I will be fuelling it up for 20+ psi in the next couple of weeks though 8)

Well its been a while since last update.

Pulled motor out a month ago & changed cam for one more suited to a big boosted motor, dialled the cam in with a few degrees of retard to make more top end power. The boost is set at 20lbs & fuelled up to suit, pulls really well.

Took it to york raceway for a few test runs, had a few carb problems so didnt do too well. The traction was poor as weather was damp & horrible. My run was B170 on the left, 14.8@104.63.

My terminal speeds are up 5 mph from last time so making more power, could be higher if I had a clean run with no misfires.

Gearbox didnt fair so well though, syncro on 2nd gear is shot so pulled it all out again to change the box..good job its only a 2hr job to remove all of it.

Also offered my m&h 22x8" drag radials up, look like they will fit with no arch chopping, Waiting for a set of 7.5j x 13" banded steels to turn up so I can get them fitted.

Small update

Got my rims back yesterday, gtt spares banded to 7.5". Cant wait to try these out at the pod.

Welding is superb on the rims, tig welded on a positional welder, rims are straight as a die. In the hurry to got my tyres fitted i forgot to take pics of the inside of the rims.

Banded steel vs cup steel

Test fitted them this afternoon, with a bit of work they fit They actually fit better than i expected, dont hang out the arches too much & i can still get full lock even with bumper on.

First try with the konis, about 5mm gap between tyre & arch.

Dug out my old avo coilovers & raised it up an inch (does anybody fit coilovers to raise a car) Im hoping an inch will be enough, it passed the catch test on the rough alley outside my unit OK. The springs are 250lb on the coilovers so its pretty firm. I was tempted to test them out in the alley, dont think the neighbours would like it though :D
