Title: Brought a knacker
Post by: elrenovski on 16:54, Mon 10 October 2011
hi there after playing too many video games as a kid  i fell in love with the renault 5 gt turbo and have finally managed to get my hands on one, unfortunately after removing the body kit i found that the n/s arch is rotted as is the sill, does anyone know where i can get a new sill from at all? also does anyone in the leicester/east midlands area have any bonnet hinges and seat bolts they dont want? as im really struggling here:

I wouldn't dimiss it as a knacker just yet.

Rotton sills is common, they have spent 20 odd years hidden from view.  :(

thats a bonus mate if you know someone,it depends on how bad they are,you could patch them or cut out arches from another 5 or new quarter panels are an option aswell,it really depends on how bad they are, they do rot under the rear windows so doin a qaurter makes sense

if there that bad best just do them bud,i got from my local motor factors, but there is websites ,likes beavers panels ,and haidrian aswell ,google them ,if you cant get one for a turbo, you can use a campus one ,you just have to cut the arch out for the body kit :wink,oh try renault aswell they still do a lot of parts for the 5 ,and there prices arent too bad, hope this helps

after stripping the interior out today i found a couple of holes underneath that need patching but all in all so far it looks to just need 3 bits of welding doing, a new head gasket (hasn't gone just wanna be on the safe side) and the seats bolting in, so hopefully wont be too long til its back on the road.

are there any tips anyone could give to doing the headgasket as i've never stripped a turbo engine before lol
