I'll be going to trax
I might take the R5 but i dont think its quick enough for the track :(
plus its not really track ready atm, as its pretty much completely standard inc boost
might be a little embarrassing getting beaten by standard clio's and xr2i's :(

but we'll see on the day its gonna be an Eeny, meeny, miny, moe between the rs1800 and R5

I might come down to meet a few of you guys. Don't think it will be in the 5 though. At least the other car has a turbo 1.4, so there is a spiritual connection

I am down witsomething park now, tethering the blackberry and netbook in a field camping haha near silverstone

I decided to bring the 5 and i'm taking it on the track for the first track session of the day, 9am, looks like i'm the only R5 on the camp site today and will probably be the only 5 on the track at that time also, so keep and eye out for me on the track, i might barry it on the first corner haha , the cars pretty standard so i expect i will probably get lapped haha, keep an eye out for me and the standard 5  H reg Red

its actually run less than standard boost due to the cup mod

trax was good today however dissapointed with the weather,

i was all ready for the first track session of the day when the heavens unloaded and made the first race a washout, there was people spinning off everywhere and i couldn't see s**t,

it was more of a sight seeing session than a track session,

first lap was with a safety car so limited to 60 or 70 (i dont know my speedo doesnt work)

second lap was a safety lap as 3+ cars spun off, by time it was the third lap and i was ready for some ""racing"" the session  was over, i should bought some more sessions

it looked like i was one of few R5's down there today did't see many others,

appart from 2 headcases on the wayhome,

you probabaly know who you are..

white r5 gtt with fmic and flamer kit
red r5 gtt de locked, yellow cage

yo.

(i hope this makes its way onto the refurbed site somewhere wink wink)

as you can see the track was drenched

Quote
root@renault5gtt~]# echo "if you cant fix it" ; init 6 ; echo "it"

init 6 i understand to be restart/reboot? but the sentence doesn't make sense to me?  :?

i was there but i walked around when it was wet in search of dojo juice stall and for food then went back to the club stand so didnt see many stands,

laughed again at the mobile dyno that were using leaf blower fans and having to get the grease monkey boy to hold the wideband clamp in the exhaust

I didn't watch any track action or drifting was tempted to go out on track when the sun came out but couldnt be arsed in the end

its geeky bash
a linux guru once said to me if you cant fix it , init 6 it (reboot it)

i took what he said an attempted to run it as a command ;)

run it in a linux terminal as root and it will reboot your machine (on some versions)

and yes the mobile rolling road with the leaf blowers, i don't think they'd keep a reliant robin kool at 2000rpm

(dyno dynamics i think 35grand bit of kit, have been considering asking the bank for a business loan with one of my buddies to buy one to start my own rolling road and work with megasquirt  management but its alot of effort and there are already a few rolling roads in my area and i didnt fancy filing for bankruptsy in 6 months haha  )

There was a saxo vtr with vts engine which made a very optimistic 138bhp after 7 runs haha

the drifting competition was pretty cool lots of noisey powerful jap cars and what looked like a old rs1800/2000 mexico probably cossied also doing really well and an old bmw

picked up some zetec arp bolts for 50quid from one of the stands lots of grim show girls there zombies with cellulose orange peel like legs blerg?

i didnt get many pics as i left the camera in the car and only had my crapberry i'll upload them here http://megaflea.net/images/trax2011 excuse the random one's =]

Ah! I thought it was car related somehow?

Just drop to a terminal and type 'init 6'  :P  The rest is just showing off.

Out of interest what flavour distro do you use?

I run Fedora mostly

I try and keep back at least 1 version from latest and its usually more stable,
im on fedora 14 on my mac pro and fedora 13 on dell

i do however reccomend ubuntu for newbies

there is lots to learn with linux i'm still relatively new at it and i'm a linux system admin by trade :P

I much prefer stability. Hence why i'm a Debian guy.

I used to be bleeding edge with an Arch install, but i spent more time googling 'fixes' then i did using the thing!

I've used Fedora in the past, version 12 was the latest i used. I suppose it makes sense you sticking with Fedora, i imagine your in your trade you come across mainly Red Hat systems?
