New girl with a very special car!
« on: 17:05, Tue 01 June 2010 »
Hi all,

My name's Becky and I've just become the VERY proud owner of a 1988 R5GTT EBS convertible. She's gone straight down to the restorers to be sorted out from the ground up - missing her, and it will be a while before she's back :(

Can someone tell me how to add a photo?

Looking forward to chatting

Becky x

Raider blue convertable, now thats rare. May well have been a Raider which EBS converted to a convertable.

Think i've seen that car for sale before as there's not any convertables for sale let along in Raider blue. Good luck with the rebuild, will be nice to see it all finished off.

Something a bit different.  8)

What did they do during the conversion (apart from take the roof off)    I noticed they have lowered the rear lights but what about making the body stronger? I don't think we have another one on here do we?

That's class! Isn't this the only raider convertible?! I was looking for some on rtoc and there's less than 10 on the road isn't there?

there are 14 ph2 convertibles, of the 1400 GTT convertible made (others are ph1)
this must be 1 of those 14...

Hi all - thanks for all your replies.

The colour is actually deceptive - the car is not a Raider - it was originally red! It will be resprayed, however I am keeping it Raider blue as I like the colour :) It's also actually a Phase 1, so even rarer.

It does need a lot of work, but this is already underway, the car is currently at the restorers, undergoing a ground-up restoration.

The car was indeed an order-from-new EBS conversion. Ordered, in fact, by Jason Connery, son of Sean! My husband has just come back from an exciting trip to Belgium to visit the company who took over EBS. They still have the chief engineer from that project - and a small and diminishing stock of parts! We were able to buy (amongst others), two whole new rear quarters, a tailgate and strengthening panels.

There is a fair way to go before she's ready, but I will update when I can. My poor little Mark 1 convertible has had to go on Ebay to make way for the EBS - go search for her if you're interested :P

Speak soon
