Non-Renault.... the new WIP
« on: 16:51, Fri 14 August 2009 »
Picked her up last night, happy with the car but it does need some FTT touches ;)
220 Gsi Turbo in charcoal, just has a dv & exhaust at the moment but.....
Suspension is 1st port of call, then address the rims, then the engine..
The 1st thing to sort is the leaky tank & loose rear ARB.

Very nice and rare mate Im partial to a nice Rover/MG... I used to have the GTi with the M-series NA engine

Then a couple of years later a T-series  engine Coupe.

I have the Rover Dealer manual (RAVE) somewhere if you want a copy..

That Gti looks sweet.... I used to have a coupe as well running on DTA with cams etc, made 260bhp & 260 ftlb @ 13psi, thing was an animal :)

Apparently there are 52 Gsi turbo's left & 32 Gti turbo's..

Fitted new fuel tank, rear ARB polys, got the front ARB's & the Koni's with jamex springs to fit this weekend. Also pick ed up the rare front spolier for the bottom of the bumper..

Was toying with the idea of buying a used bottom end with forged pistons but I'm not sure now...

Steve can't wait to see this up and running, I may have to pop over to johns with you to have a look.
With ref to forged bottom end it may be worth it for you matey as you do like the option of some power I am not to sure what the standard bottom end on those are good for power wise.

Well they will only really run around 12-14psi really as the pistons break around the ringlands...
Gary was running 18 through his & bent a rod. lol..
FMIC  on the list as well as the one on the car is puny & sits above the rad in front of the turbo & ex manifold.lol.

you ever seen the fiesta RS turbos , the manifold / turbo are smack bang up close to the RAd not only that on t3 conversion 90% of the time the Actuator dents the rad i still think the Renault 5's lay out is best !

I had a T3 2ltr conversion on my Fiesta RST ..  had serious amounts of over steer most of the time..  I never did learn my lesson to grow up and stop modding old cars.   Thanks for the reminder of those days

Done the fronts, rears are rusted into the rear bushes :(
Now I need smaller rubber or some different rims as they rub on the front :(
