phase 2 Dacia 1310 GT Turbo
« on: 19:47, Tue 07 July 2009 »
First I hope that you will "adopt" me in this family because I have a 1.4 Gt turbo engine but not on a 5
The entire work and modification on this car is made by me in the spare time (I work in sales, so everything that i made i learned it along)
The list of mods to this car is very very long so I'll try to be brief

Engine: 1.4 Gt turbo
- side mounted turbo
- full 60mm exhaust
- rejetted carb
- hks ssqv blow off
- front mounted oil cooler
- front mounted intercooler

Exterior:
-E30 projector headlights
-Smoked front turn signals,
-Repositioned and modified front bumper custom front spoiler/spliter both aphostered in leather
-Shaved rear doors, shaved trunk, shaved rear fenders where the side of the rear bumber was mounted
-Rear fenders widened about 10 cm kept the original design
-Smoked aftermarket taillights
-Repositioned and modified rear bumper aphostered in leather
-Changed side mirrors
-Chrome trims
-gigantic chrome tip on a costom inox mufler
-O.Z. Racing Evo F1 16"
-Lowered the car, and stiff suspension

Interior:
-Complete custom two tone reaphostered interior
-Custom dashboard
-Custom white gauges
-Custom central consol
-Recaro bucketseats
- 4 point seat belts
- Build in 7" DVD (I must plug the wiring)
- Momo steering wheel
and a lot more

Renault 12 made under licence in Romania was called Dacia 1300.
The one I have is a later version and it's called 1310, fabrication 1984, as soon as i got the car I swap the engine with a 1.4L dacia engine 54 bhp

Two years ago I started a rebuild I have a lot o pics but I will post only a few
This is how the car looked when I got it

Alot of rust to deal with and much body work

With the prep done waiting for paint, and a picture with the car at that time

A complete custom interior, only now I have a much nicer momo steering wheel

The engine that dacia has is very similar with the gtt one so... this is how the madness came to my had, and I started preparing a dacia engine for turbo

But because the remaining parts that I needed ware more expensive that a gtt engine that I have found...
and a comparison with the 2 engines

But last fall the turbo failed, so I started new mods under the bonnet and with it problems, and this is where I hope that you could help me with some pointers
I made a exhaust manifold to the side of the engine, front mounted the intercooler, new water cooler, new oil cooler, new hks ssqv blow off, 60mm exhaust

This year new rims and a few pictures before the opening of a tuning show where I won a cup

And now I need some help/tips
The side manifold that I made is crap, (I am using a KKK turbo not the T3 in the picture above) the pressure wont raise above 0.4 bar because I made some really ugly welds there.
Now I'm preparing to make a new side manifold and shold I grow a litle the inside of the pipes ?
I see that a lot of you use VNT turbo, from what car do you use them because I'm thinking to mount one myself
And because I must take the gearbox off this days I want to lighten the flyweel but I'm affraid that the engine would be much to brutal, can anyone with a lightweight flyweel tell me if it worth it

If you will "adopt" me I will keep you posted because now I intend to make drastic modification on the look under the bonnet and to the performances too
We can make a better world !

good job mate alot of graft gone in there and looks good. regarding the vnt there abit of a pain to setup boost spiking and carb emptying issues seem to be high on the list of problems. then there is also the repair price of them very expensive over here. alot of the lads have used them and gone back to the conventional style or roller bearing turbos due to the issues but they have proved instant power

I forgot to specifi that the car is fwd but a conversion for a rwd crossed my mind for many times, who knows , maybe one day :D
The base for the dash comes from a S class from the 70's
