few teething probs. hesitaion, no rear brake lights
« on: 00:26, Sat 04 April 2009 »
when i got the car it had a set and forget boost controler, didnt want it on there incase it was too high so put the normal pipe back on,

am i better off putting it back on maybe its the oem pipe causing this?

i was told it was set at 20psi and re jetted to suit

if ive put the oem vavum hose back on and running stock levels would this cause mid range in boost hesitation if its jetted to 20psi?

if i drive qauter throttle it dosnt hesitate, only does if w.o.t

-----------------------------------------------

also noticed bov isnt working and im getting compresser surge which isnt good!

took vacum hose off and reved it and there was no vacum once throttle off, maybe bov is buggerd, or vacuam hose blocked?? im not sure how much vacum is suppose to be there!

-------------------------------------------------

also brake lights are not working, but was working before changing loom over maybe a relay?? tested switch works fine

checked bulbs by turning them 180 and re inserting in to bulb board

any other things to consider

and what realy is the rear brake lights (if there is a relay for this switch)

just to note indicators, reverse, fog and tail lights are working

----------------------------------------------------

and one more qestion (easy one if you know) whats the incraments on the boost gadge???

###############################
this is all thats wrong now and im realy hating this hesitation thing

cheers mat

Depends how the carb has been setup, if it's had a large main jet fitted the that might be the cause for the awkward driving, especially at W.O.T because it will overfuel.

A replacement fuel filter is recommended, especially if you don't know how old the one fitted is. It's not expensive and simple to replace.

As for the carb jets it depends on how much boost you want to run, but it would be a good idea to have a look at the size of the jets just so you know whats fitted. You will need a set of precision drill bits for this because they might have been drilled already and the size thats stamped on them (if they even have been marked) wont mean a thing.

What boost you running ??

Hesitation @ WOT will be fuel starvation IMO.

ok put boost controler on but had boost leak out a shite dv

so changed the dv and then got no boost like itnition was cut when on throttle and boost spike. so turnt it down but then got back fire

and dv still not activating

the dv is connected here

is there any way the diaprhame is buggered? or been put back together wrong??

as theres no vacum from it after boosting and shuting throttle

so ive gone from hesitation to boost leak and now back firing lol

You have the d/v vaccum on the wrong hose by the looks of it, get a better pic of the engine just so i can make sure.. pretty certain you have t'd into the wrong hose, the d/v tees into the pipe from AEI to carb base on the right as you are looking at the engine, it looks like thats t'd into the left of the carb..
