Jet Black 5 turbo
« on: 13:49, Sun 28 December 2008 »
Hi everyone, yes i am a newbie.
Bought myself a barely running 5 turbo few months back and then i went to uni. So this threads gonna drag

So this is when i bought it.
Dragged it home and shined it up.

Went to uni and forgot about it for a bit. Came back for halloween and found out the turbo had gone and as a result the big end on number 3 was knocking aswell. So its an engine out job.
Accuired a turbo and shells and a spare crankshaft.

Engine out and gearbox off.

This all needs cleaning.

And this is how she sits now.
I know something needs to be done about the bonnet and wheels.
The calipers need re painting in a nice colour. tints to be taken off, fix the bumper and put it back together. Need new number plates. Should be good. When i bought it the guy said it had a new head, pistons and liners just put in it, when cranking the engine over it did feel nice and tight, aparently its got a lightened flywheel aswell, but didnt look like it when we had it off.
 :D  Thanks for readin.
Ill keep it updated.
Mark

Hi, nah theres barely any rust, none on the body, well actually theres a lil underneath the rear window, but its nothing really.
No rust underneath, its in pretty good shape.
It had been garages for 2 years when i bought it. so its not bad. it had a respray engine bay n everything.
I want a new bonnet altogether, i hate the badboy bit aswell.
back to smooth standard is what i want

Im to skint to buy samco hoses, so theyre all wraped in different colours, red for coolant, yellow for vaccum, and oil can stay black.

The engine is all built now, just need to clean it up, replace oil pipes n various bits, and put it back in.

Just some pics i couldnt get off my phone till now.

We had to tow the car round the block in gear to loosen off the engine. The damn thing was so tight!

Then the snow hit, car was mobile though, so im happy :D
My old campus in the background btw, still love it

And my toys :D

Back at uni now so no work on the car for a while. But easter it should be going sweet.

Just an update on the car, i put the wheels on, still on the coilovers though, its a bit low now, hitting curb ramps.

Bloody snow getting in the way though. Also found out today that my fuel is dissapearing. Must be a hole in the fuel tank or on the way to the carb. But, i cant even begin to look until the damn snow has gone.
Think i might have to invest in a portable garage before i spend any more money on the car.
