Gaz sold some with blue springs on but then that's if they are the original springs, they do look very dirty and rusty

yeah thats what made think they're Gaz because they tend to rust as they're not powder coated

Renault 5 GT Turbo / Coilovers question
« on: 19:54, Mon 18 July 2011 »
Hello mates,

Well basically I just bought myself a pair of front coilovers from ebay and am waiting for their delivery..

At first I thought they where in a bad condition but in the auction description the seller claimed they where in a very good condition -- on a second and closer look at the photo they seemed very dirty, but as the seller said, in a good condition.

I messaged the seller and asked him about their condition -- No leaks, threads in a good condition and fully functional and adjustable damper also fully functional.

Thing is he does not know the brand because he removed them from a car he broke. This is where I need you guys -- does anyone recognize what brand are these coilovers ??

Why not fit surge tank and run it that way, thats how most of the big power boys do it.

still need a pump to fill the surge tank.. and I cant put the surge tank on the inside because I use the car for hillclimbs and that is prohibited by the regulations

Why didn't you just fit a larger fuel pump capable of flowing enough fuel for the Volvo engine?

In-line fuel pumps should be fed either by gravity or by another pump -- infact I had a large fuel pump and it used to whine alot when the tank was below the half level mark or during some hard cornering.

This happened because the GTT tank feeds from the top of the tank, so the pump 'sucked' fuel rather then being fed.

for anyone who might be looking at this in the future.. the tank does fit  :D

No one ever tried this ?!?!

The R5 already has an external in-line fuel pump.

Or am i misunderstanding something here?

I am running a volvo 1.7 and need high pressure fuel .. and high pressure inline pumps need to be at least gravity fed, or fed by another pump (in-tank for instance).

So, my chances are, I'de either fit a 16v/Williams tank or make my existing tank gravity feed my pump (making some sort of fitting at the bottom of the tank.. or something like that - not very keen on that, not very safe)

Hey mate,

what fuel pump are you going to use ?

and how are you going to feed that from the tank ?

cos i have a problem right now I need to gravity feed my pump as its an inline type and when its sucking fuel rather then being fed it makes a nasty whining noise..
