it seems that most garages just dont have the experience to work on these cars nowadays, i got a labour quote for removing and re-fitting my gearbox as i need to have it re-built due to an oil leak on the selector, they wanted 850      just to take it out and put it back in, the rebuild is on top of that,

it would be great if there was some kind of list or directory of people who actualy know what they are doing on these cars and charge an honest rate for their work, i dont mind paying a decent hourly rate so long as the mechanic knows what he is doing and isnt spending 75% of the time scratching his head trying to work out what to do

i work for myself pretty much soley on 5s, as sort of a agreement with mike as part of gt turbo spares.
an markey mark also does a lot on these things for his customer base under bd something.

both of us have been around these things for quite a while now an know them fairly well

The diagram you need to look at is 13.6, the big connector (80) is the engine harness.

Yellow - Pin 1, 4 J5 goes to "53" (Page 13.2) Ignition starter anti theft switch
Possibliy cut due to aftermarket alarm
Comes from the alternator

Violet - Pin 14, 7 Vi4 goes to "433" (13.2) Junction LH, looks like the battery light?

White/cream which is next to violet also to the same connector
Ignition starter anti theft switch
Possibliy cut due to aftermarket alarm
Comes from the alternator

If you can see the other wires maybe you can work it out as above

yellow, goes from ign switch to alt, tells alt to charge

violet, is batt light, dash to alt, makes the batt light come on

white is the starter solonoid feed, starts the car, nothing to do with alt

they are cut as the connector is fubar prob green inside from where it has been wet for the last 20yrs, more commomly known as the death block

ive yet to see any alarm system to be wired in in that area, be sure to be confident in what you are doing before you do it as any mistakes can result in a nice fire

removed mine!!! Im not shelling 130 for a compensator when the car is lowered and it does fuk all anyway!!

is that right ?

before people jump on this bandwagon, dont do it, it is dangerous !

what oil pressure gauge are you using ?

is this a freshly built engine ?

unless im bein a twat, as i read those comp test results it wouldnt run, should be around the 150 mark depending on what its been built to, have another go

Renault 5 GT Turbo / Re: footwell pond!!!
« on: 13:09, Fri 17 June 2011 »
i gave up trying to make mine water proof, best advice i can offer is remove interior an all sound deadening. one 12 bore barrell each foot well. an refitt leaving sound deadening out [it holds water for ages]  no more ponds in footwells

be aware fuel lines run quite close to drivers side dont go to mad with the shot gun you really dont wanna have your head in the car blastin away an hit one of them !
