Renault 5 GT Turbo / my new turbo is wreaking havoc
« on: 20:32, Sat 13 September 2008 »
I can just imagine the eyes rolling and the heads shaking but ive just put a new turbo on my car its a ktec 350 the rest is standard apart from a uprated headgasket  fmic and an uprated carb with an 150 main jet now my intention was to put the turbo on and turn the boost right down to about 8 psi with standard carb but then i went and put the carb on and unsurprisingly it was overfueling an felt shit so i turned up the boost to about 15-20 psi the first thing that happened was that it span a new clutch but surprisingly it was also pinking like mad what i want to know is  this to do with the crank sensor and what would be a happy medium of power that the standard clutch can handle and what main jet would be best.

This is just for the "summer" i will be fitting all the necessesary gear in the winter. ta

Renault 5 GT Turbo / boost limits?
« on: 20:44, Sat 19 July 2008 »
Hi just got my phase one on the road and noticed that according to the boost gauge guide in the maintenance section mine is boosting about 8 psi is this normal/standard? how much can i turn it up by before the fueling becomes an issue? I have a 1.9mm head gasket and uprated head bolts which have been tourqued up higher than standard i want to eventually build a 200 bhp motor so would you recommend upgrading the actuator now? or winding up the standard one for now if so how do you do it ?

Thanks James

« on: 12:30, Thu 26 June 2008 »
Hi i,ve got air horns standard i think on my phase 1 but there dosent seem to be any wires to plug into it .the car has had a front end accident and there are quite a few odds and ends missing i was just wondering if the horns have a seperate piece of harness?,or some one put the wrong type harness in? its annoying, got to be done for mot and i dont really want to put a normal horn in.

Renault 5 GT Turbo / Leaky phase 1
« on: 15:47, Wed 25 June 2008 »
Hi i,ve just bought a phase 1 gt turbo which is leaking water into the cabin it is running down from the bulkhead into the footwells, i have removed the carpet and sound proofing but i cant really be arsed to remove the bulkhead sound proofing and dash. is this a common fault with r5's? this is my first one.
one thing i will add is that it has had at some stage some front end damage
which must have pushed the bonnet catch into the panel directly underneath the windscreen....you can see where it has been repaired. its def not anti freeze from matrix. cheers james
