« on: 18:05, Wed 11 April 2012 »
after going to the surrey meet last month and seeing marks volvo powered extra van ive been considering going down the fuel injection road.......so i bought a compleate 440 lump and im piking it up tomorow. is there any bits i should make sure i get this is what i can think of

engine and box
whole loom inc 2 boxs 1 for fuel 1 for ignition
relays
downpipe
airflow sensor
ecu (if the ecu isnt the 2 boxs)
and throttle cable...wasnt sure if it will fit but will be usefull to make one to fit the 5

thats all i can think of. is the gtt pump up for the job? im sure the pump on 440 is in the tank??
ive already got the gtx front mount and altinator bracket so thats all sorted
is there anything else i need to sorce?
cheers

Renault 5 GT Turbo / random boost?
« on: 20:49, Tue 10 April 2012 »
ive been driving the car around for the last few weeks everything running spot on running about 13 - 14 psi when today on the way home i gave it a boot and it boosted right up to around 18 psi which cant be good for the poor little t2! so i let off and drove home like a normal person :(. checked all the pipework everything is as it should....any ideas? possibly actuator? i discovered the nut on the end was slightly loose but you cant wind the rod by had so couldnt see it being that? only other thing i could think of is maybe ive put the pipe from the carb onto the wrong carb top port as its curently on the port closesed to the bulk head. but its been set up like that for weeks now and never this problem.
cheers

car seems to be running pretty good (apart from the lumpy idle) until today when i got home after work i could hear the car pinking...but only on tick over i took it up and down the road to see if i could hear it while on boost but there was nothing... its stinking the drive out with a nice rich fuel smell at the mo lol i ordered a ridiculous amount of silicone hose over the weekend as i intend to clean it all up and replace the old worn looking hoses. im thinking what with the bad idle, pinking, and rich smell that a vacuum hose has spit along the lines somewhere so hoping it goes when i replace it all.......but if that doesn't work what would cause the sudden pinking? the car drives spot. also i fitted a boost gauge today and the vacuum reading on idle is up and down sits around 10 - 15 and when you rev it to about 1200 it goes to 20 which i recall being normal. so does it look like all problems pointing to vacuum from aei? and last of all how do you go about getting into the aei case to change the hose......it just wouldn't open when i tryed at the weekend! lol thanks

i had a play with the mixture screw earlyier just wont tick over properly! the revs on idle re abit erratic it does tick over tho just cant get it to idle normaly unless i have the idle quite high jiust cant figure it out. it also idles better cold which is weird and as it warms up it gets more lumpy

i was just looking at the last pic and isnt the  blue hose ment to t into the next port along on the carb top, and that port its connected to now is ment to goto the metal pipe coming off the turbo?? getting there   it still idles ruff it seems to idle better when the chokes on then as soon as i shut it its abit burbly but will idle. drives spot on and is using less juice than the campus lump!! lol result!
