no prob 'bout the brakes. we got plenty of r19. we can adapt. what's AEI? ignition system? if yes, this R11 has also electronic ignition system, i think it's the renix 209. i'll check it out tomorrow.

easier in UK maybe. here you don't get to see that many GTTs or Volvo 440. about the compression, there's no prob. we can cut off some of the head comb chamber, and also from the pistons, to make them similar to the GTT's pistons. so compression will be even lower than the stock GTT. so, whatelse besides the parts i wrote at the begining of the thread. what possible problems?

so, here's the question.. a frind of mine just bought a renault 11 coupe 1.4lnormally aspirated, and he's thinking of a turbo conversion. what do we need in order to do that? i presume that we'll need a turbo head, carb and intake/exhaust manifolds. also an electric fuel pump and pressure regulator. what else do you know we need in order to make this conversion? what are the possible problems we'll encounter? thanks!

finally, after 2 days of hard work, hammered nails, and lots of nuts and bolts broken, i managed to lower the car. now, the question is: did i do it properly? i'm only asking because i've seen that there are 2 torsion bars on the rear. and i only worked with the one bolted on the chassis. took the bars out, re-fitted them in a lower position and that was it. should've I take out the bars between the arms? or did i guessed right about taking out only the bar bolted on the chassis?

:))) there's no "fumes" inside the car..just plain ol' air..my hoses are very clean on the inside, there's no oil..

i hear lots of hissing noise, but only because i have the in-car mounted boost controller, and no third hose going outside. so all the noise from the escaping air goes inside the cab. i'll check the intercooler and hoses for leaks..

what could be the problem? this started months ago, but i still didn't fgure it out.. the car's pulling good at high rpm but it doesn't have that "instant explosion" that it used to. it's like i have no torque. the car is stock. before, when i floored it, it took like half a second and then jumped ahead. now, it just revs normally until it reaches max pressure (about 4000-4500 rpm) then pulls good enough. can someone give me a hint?

funny, as mine used to work properly..5-6 cold engine, 4-5 on motorway, 2 on idle (hot). and suddenly, dropped to 3 cold engine, 1 on idle (cold), and 2 with 0 with hot engine. and i tend to trust the gauge as till now it worked properly. anyway, i'll swap the engine these days and see what reading i'll get.

@ashley the crankshaft/rod damage was the effect, not the cause.
@whitneyd good point, didn't thought at that. i will.
anyway, i found another engine, i'm thinking of swapping mine. dunno exactly what's its condition but as i heard it's in very good shape. i'll check it out.

both crakshaft and piston rod were damaged pretty bad. that's not a problem though, as i'll have them replaced. the idea is that i dunno what could've caused that. :cry:

if OE gauge means the original stock gauge, yes i am. the prob is that he's been showing correctly by now, oil pressure up to 4-5 with a warm engine. suddently, for the past 2 weeks, it started going down, lil' by li'. now t's showing 1-2 max with warm engine. and guess what? my rod shells went scrappy. i replaced them and still, pressure is the same. main shells not replaced, but they were replaced last summer. they only ran for about 2-3000 km. it's too big the coincidence between the low oil pressure and shells gone. don't you think?

ok, so here it is: i ain't gettin no more than 2 at the oil pressure gauge. fisrt i presumed that that gauge was faulty. but no i've come to think about something major problem. i don't think is the gauge. i tested the oil pump and to me it's ok. i mean, i took it off, put it in a oil tank and spinned it with my hand. and it's pushing oil hard on that hole. i presume that it's ok. so, question is, what else could drop my oil pressure? the shells are in good condition. could the radiator be chocked or something? or what else? i dunno..gimme some hints, please, coz this prob it's tearing appart my engine! :x
