amazing stuff mate proper  8) , whats the engine spec?
Title:
Post by: markeyturbo on 22:15, Thu 18 December 2008
i'll have to dig out complete spec...

dished pistons
skimmed block and head to increase compression
modified combustion chamber but otherwise std head
balanced pistons, crank, L&b flywheel
std cam
VNT turbo running 14-27psi
TTS downpipe and K-tec side exit
volvo 440 clutch
MSM carb
CTD custom fmic intercooler to my design
CTD hardpipes
SFS hoses
aquamist water/methanol injection
close ratio gearbox from i think a R9 or R11
armtec limiter with flatshift

last dyno day made 217bhp and 256lb/ft torque.... with a std cam, manifold etc. etc.

have a CTM 293degree cam to put in next time she blows lol

Mike normally used a 27mm main venturi, de-choked and enlarged/bored carb top, .9 a/c and 150main jet but he used to play with the 1st and 2nd stage well he did on mine anyway (I did have the spec of mine somewhere I will try and find it).

And the cam you have got there markey is awesome had that in my last engine and the guy at the rollers took my car to 7800rpm  luckily I had a fueling prob so he stopped

headlights are just brand new valeo ones as the old ones were scabby
indicators are from germany, and cost a sweet fortune as they are crystal clear
front fogs are just clear as opposed to yellow

Post by: markeyturbo on 17:53, Wed 31 December 2008
why would you just want the calipers?? they need the brackets to fit, and you may as well get discs etc as well, as i believe that they are modified lancia ones, defo not the same as the 21TXE that you can use with std calipers. pads are the same as volvo 240/260 as well ;)

Did it come with the close ratio box or did you fit..??

Presume only the drag strip times would see the benefit of this being fitted..??
Title:
Post by: markeyturbo on 02:05, Fri 13 February 2009
i put it in after killing 5 gtt boxes, its from a renault 9 and the gearing is slightly shorter, which is good for accelleration but also not so good for traction
Title:
Post by: Jay-normous on 02:17, Fri 13 February 2009
5 boxes... F%*k me and i thought the GTT boxes were strong..

Wouldn't be "the choice" box for motorways...?

Still a great car mate..

Hoping to get something similar for when the roads get warm and sticky again.. :D

Have you fitted the campus fuel filler thing, and done away with the aux pump... heard its something that should be done in highly tuned cars like your own..??
Also,  Is a seperate oil cooler needed with vnt..??

Did you fit the cam yet..?

I had a the standard fuel system setup it is normally removed by the POD boys to save weight it only becomes a problem if your racing hard with little fuel in the tank thus causing some starvation of fuel (running lean) as the aux tank pump is nothing more than a screen washer pump.

No external oil coolers are not really required, just use a good quality oil say 15w 50 mobile 1 and do regular services and I would recomend the fitment of an inline oil feed filter to pick up any crap before it gets to the turbo core.

With ref to Marks cam he should fit it as I ahd the same 293 deg came in my C1J and it was revved to 7800 rpm and wanted more tappets where a little noisey after though
Title:
Post by: markeyturbo on 15:06, Fri 13 February 2009
yeah i've got std setup too, as i never drive it it rarely gets used low on fuel. i dont even run it low at the pod as i believe you shouldn't change it to how ya would on the road.. i dont even lower tyre pressures lol

i'm running a std rad, with std inbuilt oil cooler too, oil is changed every couple of months, so about every 40 miles lol.

i will get the cam in, just not a case of slotting it in, head will need to come off and have the spring seats machined down, piper springs and vernier... i'll save it for the next time it breaks lol
Title:
Post by: Jay-normous on 16:35, Fri 13 February 2009
Never knew there was in-line oil filters for turbos...?

Dont think i ever rev'd my car past 5000 rpm.. just incase i broke something..!!

Be nice to see what it'll produce when the cam is in, although will it make idling a bit lumpy..?

Interesting thread, will keep a eye on this alright...

great car, great build;
too far ahead from what´s done here in Portugal...
the clio dash mod; was it difficult?
very interested in it, probably a mod for my gtt.
are there many differences in the dashes?
is it bolted on?
electric wiring? many differences?
thanks for the info, got very, very interested in the mod...

Don't know how I've never seen this thread before?!  :?:

The bronze 5 - awesome motor! 8)  Did you buy it with any of the mods or do it all yourself? Clearly had some serious dollars thrown at it!
As above with the clio dash comments - what was that like to fit? I hate the stupid visor thing above the clocks on the 5 dash! And what Clio dash is it? Williams? 16v?
The 2-tone 5 on 18's - that started life as a campus?!!! :!:

Title:
Post by: jimmy_b on 23:05, Tue 01 September 2009
jay - cams still not fitted. think hes planning on pulling the engine out over the winter for a full check and prob fit it then. the round bits on both sides of the front bumper are quick release bolts to remove the bumper. atm the orange 5 is his daily drive as hes waiting on tax atm to get his new run around (1990 raider) on the road

i'm assuming you want to know if the 285mm will fit with 15's? if so yes, i tried my mates speedline turini's on, and had more clearance than he does with a bbtuning big brake kit!

i paid £692 including the extra for the gold calipers, but they are noticably better than the std ones, not that it needs it, but i like to be safe :)

thank you for your answer!!
excuse me, if my question of appearing bitch little, but I have a little evil with English!
thus if I understood well what you say to me, with this kit of brake it is necessary at least last in wheel of 15 “it is well its?
not average to make them last on wheels does offset of super 5 CUP have?
that in 13”
Title:
Post by: markeyturbo on 02:20, Wed 07 October 2009
basically, you want to know if they will work with 13" wheels? no

the smallest kit (285) will need a minimum of 15" wheel for clearance :(

cheers dude :)

raider is proving to be awesome... been driving it since 1st sept with no real issues or problems, just keeps taking the abuse that i give it.... lol

its not even that bad on fuel! i may have to sell it soon tho as i'm considering changing careers and there will be more travelling involved, hopefully not but i'll have to see how it goes  :?

not going to do much to the raider, its a bit of a work beater so dont want to end up painting it nicely or i'll be in the same boat as my orange one (eg. weekend toy) and i'd have to buy yet another car! lol

i'll have to dig out complete spec...

dished pistons
skimmed block and head to increase compression
modified combustion chamber but otherwise std head
balanced pistons, crank, L&b flywheel
std cam
VNT turbo running 14-27psi
TTS downpipe and K-tec side exit
volvo 440 clutch
MSM carb
CTD custom fmic intercooler to my design
CTD hardpipes
SFS hoses
aquamist water/methanol injection
close ratio gearbox from i think a R9 or R11
armtec limiter with flatshift

last dyno day made 217bhp and 256lb/ft torque.... with a std cam, manifold etc. etc.

have a CTM 293degree cam to put in next time she blows lol

Hi markey, just one quick quest.
You have mentioned that you got aquamist system on your GTT,
i was planning to get one to keep the temp. lower since i am building a car for the 1/4mile.. Do you reccomend them? Did you have any gains?
Thanks mate! regards!

hey bud, i run a mix of 70% water 30% methanol in mine, to be honest it actually makes less power with the system on, but it does lower the temp of the intake charge, which reduces det, which makes it safer on big boost if that makes sense.
mine only switches on at 18psi so i dont use it for day to day running

i've got a DDS3 controller as well which is an amazing bit of kit, and if you get an aquamist definately get that to go with it :)
