You are a lucky lucky man Goran.

That is a nice, tidy and probably stupidly quick motor.  Im glad you got there.

Question for you, what did you do with your old GTX?!?!

Ben.

It just had to go, unfortunately.... It was left to my brother who's not that of a 5 enthusiast... we were both honestly sad to see it go  , but I sold it to my girlfriend's cousin, so I get to see it every now and then.... :D  my father bought a Saxo VTS, so my brother moved to his R19....
It was one hell of a good car.... still miss it...

Yip, got rid of the snow finally.... Oh come on, I was sure you're not that sensitive...  I was only joking, I hope you realize that...  :(

Thanks for the compliments, it really is clean, nothing added at all, but for the sake of tyres, I think I'll (unfortunatelly) have to switch to 15s... It just impossible to fine 195/55/13 tyres these days...
The car is completely standard, with currently just over 82.000 km on the clock... it's well taken care of I tell you...
Title:
Post by: chris tur-bo on 16:45, Tue 12 April 2005
Yeah don't u worry. Im just muckin.
Its quite hard to get the tyres over here to. If you do find them they are about Ł109. Which is a little ott.

As far as I know only Dunlop SP Sport 2000 and Semperit Sport Life exist in this weird dimension... both of which are completely inadequite for this car... think I'll buy those 15s and save whats left of these Michelins just for fun...
Dunlop is not THAT expensive, here in Bosnia you can get them for approx. 90 Euros.... but if you look at 195/50/15, you can get Bridgestone Potenza RE720 for 60 euros.... and that's by far the best "high-performance class" tyre at the moment....

It's been ages since I posted here, since I'm trying to end my education finally....
And I've recently done some work on my 5, so I thought I'd drop in....
After loosing the battle of finding decent original-sized tyres, I got myself a set of OZ Chrono Evolution 16" with Conti SportContact2 tyres...
Hope you like it.... :D

Seems like I post in this topic once a year...

But I'm taking things slow with my car, nothing serious happened in the meantime... I did get a set of clear front indicators and clear side repeaters, but it's not that interesing...

What is interesting that I got the car completely resprayed, back to original color of course (the only difference being the technique - now it's sprayed with base coat + lacquer), because the paint deteriorated to such an extent that it was a sad sight...

So, I'll lead you step by step how things went in the past month or so...

Episode one (11.6.2007.):

First of all, the car was photographed so that we can have a full insight into its condition before anything was done to it... status on June 11, 2007...

Episode three (23.6.2007.):

The bodykit is down and for the first time I got the chance to see the situation with rust...
I was positively surprised by the condition of the car... there are just slight traces of surface corrosion on the sills, everything else is literally intact... hard to believe for a 19 year old car!  :D

Episode four (26.6.2007.):

There we go... the "kid" is off to a bodyshop...

But, before we did that, we performed a facial peeling... so to speak...

I have no idea why people looked at me in awe as I drove to the bodyshop...  perhaps because the windshield was attached to the car's body with "ducktape" in 4 or 5 place, and I had no rear window... perhaps...
Title:
Post by: Goran on 18:40, Wed 11 July 2007
Episode five (28.6.2007.):

A small visit to the bodyshop today... :D

I got a call from the bodyshop later in the day, so off to the get it resprayed tomorrow...

Bodykit will also be finished tomorrow...

Episode eight (11.7.2007.):

The bodykit is also done!  :D

It was raining, so we had to wrap it in paper and nylon... it's now waiting for the waxing to be done (I'll pick the car up tomorrow morning) and for the necessary parts to arrive to the local Renault dealer's (clips, bolts etc...)...

Really good pictures and making me think I should do the same in a few years time.

Looking at the bodykit piece I would say that the final put together finished car will look better than new.

Keep up the good work!

Later in the day, I went to my local Renault's service station to put the bumpers and some other minor plastic bits and pieces back on...
Until I get the side decals, wing panels and plastic sills will not be back on...

Thanx mate...

I've been busy with little bits and pieces these days...

After playing with the needle  :D and "restyling" the gear shifter leather cover (you'll see that later) it was about time to do something useful

As the entire interior was stripped (and cleaned ) I came across the first problem...

I managed to handle the wires somehow and sort them into groups (windows, automatic window modules, alarm, central locking, CD-radio...)...

Then came the carpet, central console (with "redesigned" gear shift look   ), and now it looks like this...

After detailed consultations with Warleydaddy (cheers mate   ), the car is going back to the painter's (which is actually an Audi/Porsche dealership) to flat the paint as "orange peel" effect can be seen on it...
Then I'll take the seats to be dry-cleaned (just like the carpet) and I can start assembling the interior... :D

It's been a long time since I posted here... unfortunately it's not 100% finished yet... I still need side decals, rear badge and bumper strips...
But these will be settled soon I hope...

The car was featured on a TV show on Bosnian state television, and a part of the material from the show was compiled into this clip...
